Lego Skywalker Saga Is Giving So Much Reylo

The newest video game Lego Skywalker Saga is out and giving reylo fans a ton of new content. Now, for the uninitiated, “reylo” is the pormanteau of REY and Ben SoLO. More importantly, if you’re a reylo fan, this game delivers a lot of love.

Naturally, this massive game doesn’t change the basic plot points of the Skywalker Saga. Alas, Ben Solo does die in the cutscenes. (Hopefully, not forever Lucasfilm? Hint hint?)

However, Lego Skywalker gives us an immense treasure trove of delightful Ben Solo [and Kylo Ren] moments with Rey. Ben is a silly goof. Yes, he can be villainous, but at his heart is his single-minded goal of finding Rey and eternally asking her to join him with, or without his shirt.

Rey is sarcastic in her moments with Ben, but her clear hope for him shines through. She even tells Chewbacca, “There is still good in him”, mirroring Padme Amidala’s words to Obi-wan Kenobi. Ring theory for the win!

Here are some of my favorite clips of reylo from the Lego Skywalker Saga for part 8, The Last Jedi

So many great moments in these clips.

In these scenes, Rey literally comes hurtling towards Kylo Ren to save him. Rey and Kylo both speak mockingly to each other, not with real maliciousness, but with funny snark. In fact, they remind me of Han Solo and Leia Organa at times.

In Lego Skywalker Saga, Ben Solo’s shirtlessness is a running gag, as it has been with the animated short films. In fact, you can play Ben Solo! And you should!

Emma of @hiddenreylo on Twitter has several screenshots of some reylo here:

And I should take a moment to point that, no, Ben and Rey don’t kiss in Lego Skywalker. However, neither do the other couples. Han and Leia only hug in the Return of the Jedi section. Anakin and Padme get married, and hug at least once, I think. But no one kisses.

All the same, all the couples’ love stories shine through regardless of the outcome of their stories, or the lack of actual smooches.

In the Last Jedi segment, Ben and Rey keep asking each other if they are alright. This was something visually shown on film, but with the game it is spoken aloud. And Ben looks so hopeful holding his hand out to Rey!

Ben (still as Kylo Ren to a point) holds his hand out to Rey with hope and a little smile.

As you can see below, Ben and Rey hug in their final scene.

Easily the wildest thing the final reylo moment of Lego Skywalker Saga is the fact that Rey isn’t completely dead while waiting for Ben to approach her. She is only feigning sleep!

The game’s characterizes Rey as a bit of a coquette when it comes to Ben Solo. In the films, especially The Last Jedi, Rey has never been passive in her love of Ben Solo. Oddly, some fans never seem to see this. However, as Lego Star Wars amps up character’s personality traits to 11, one can’t fail to see how Rey has always been after Ben.

A Lego Rey feigns unconsciousness so Ben Solo will think she is asleep. She does so in a coquettish way. One of the cutest reylo scenes in Lego Skywalker Saga

Kylo Ren / Ben Solo on his part is portrayed as the boy that loves his grandfather and wants his beloved Rey to join him on the Dark Side. I’ve lost count of how many times he’s held his hand out for Rey to join him! Again, Anakin Skywalker wanted his wife Padme to join him. Ben ultimately does become like his grandfather, just not in the way he thinks.

And did I mention that you can play as Ben Swolo? Yes, you can play as “Topless Kylo Ren”!

So far my favorite scene is the one where Rey heals Kylo’s wound. They are both more physical here with each other than in the actual film. Ben takes Rey’s hand and sheepishly grins win she turns towards him. Rey takes hold of his hand to further reinforce that she has always wanted to take Ben Solo’s hand.

But by far, one of the best things about the Lego Skywalker game is that you can play Ben Solo at any time during the game. He has dialogue such as “Let me. It’s the least I could do after the whole Kylo thing”.

Thus, you can pretend Ben Solo came back to life. And you can have Ben and Rey has as many adventures across different time periods and on all the planets as much as you want.

You can even play as Dark Rey and pretend she joined Kylo Ren. And check out this nifty Grease reference below.

“Tell me about it…Sith” is a reference to “Tell me about it…stud” from Grease. I love it.

It’s the Star Wars game you can make a reylo game. And for that alone, it’s one of the best Star Wars games to exist.

Of course, the Lego Skywalker Saga is full of vast delights, and reylo is only the tip of the iceberg. No matter what you fancy, there is truly something for everyone in this game.
