In just a few months, we’ll be into 2023 and that means new Star Wars Wall calendars! While many people rely on their phones for their calendar needs, some of us still love our wall calendars. You can’t beat having a new way to show Star Wars art on your wall.
Most Star Wars calendars are put out by Trends International. I’ll focus on the wall calendar specifically, and rank all upcoming 2023 calendars from best to least. My criteria for ranking Star Wars wall calendars is from the most innovative, beautiful, or aesthetically interesting design as top, with those calendars with unclear or unoriginal art the least.
The best Star Wars Calendar — Book of Boba Fett
The absolute best calendar this year in terms of originality, variability, and most interesting is the 2023 Book of Boba Fett calendar. I’ve been waiting for this calendar to come out for some time, and it kept getting pushed back. However, this calendar was well worth the wait.
The images for the calendar range from conventional poster art of Fennec Shand and Boba Fett, to Western-style art silhouettes of the pair in desert color palettes.

The Second Best Star Wars Calendar — The Mandalorian
I picked up this 2023 Star Wars calendar a few weeks ago, and it does not disappoint! The Mandalorian calendar for this coming year is leaning into a specific 60s style art aesthetic that is a cross between old comic covers and old Western movie posters.
As with the Book of Boba Fett, it’s fun and colorful and stands out. My favorite images are for the Death Troopers and Luke Skywalker.
Below, I’ve put down a comparison of the calendar blocks to give you an idea of the writing space. While I prefer the Book of Boba Fett calendar in overall originality, the Mandalorian calendar is much better for writing.
The Third Best Star Wars Calendar — Obi-Wan Kenobi
The next best Star Wars calendar is the Obi-wan Kenobi 2023 Wall Calendar. This gorgeous calendar shows promotional and concept art for the excellent limited series that came out earlier this year.
By far, my favorite image is this one of Darth Vader.
Fourth best 2023 Star Wars Wall Calendar — Women of the Galaxy
This calendar is more in line with what Trends International typically puts out in a given year. This calendar features various women from Star Wars, including Leia, Rey, and Rose Tico. It’s mostly standard promotional images with typical color blocking and text.
It’s a nice calendar with good spaces for writing notes. In fact, it probably is the best calendar for that purpose. It’s not as original as Kenobi and BOBF calendars, but it’s a good, aesthetically pleasing, functional calendar.
Fifth Best Star Wars Calendar — The Mandalorian: the Child 2023 calendar
Okay. We are now getting into the less than stellar calendars. Don’t get me wrong, the 2023 Star Wars The Child calendar isn’t awful, but of the Star Wars Calendars for this year, it’s dull.
It’s just pictures of Grogu recycled from previous calendars with some text. It’s not horrible, or ugly. It just does not stand out. If you’re a diehard Grogu fanatic, this will be a part of your collection. Otherwise, it has nice squares for writing, but it’s not one of the more stand-out of the selections this year.
The Final and Least of the 2023 Star Wars calendars
For this years, the least of the 2023 Star Wars calendars is the one for the original trilogy. I checked this calendar out at my local Barnes and Noble and was unimpressed with the designs. The calendar takes black and white images from the films, and inserts them into symbols from the films.
It seems like a nice idea, but the result is muddied images that don’t really stand out from the wall. My current 2022 Star Wars calendar is one of the original trilogy calendars, and I like it. But this one will be a pass from me.
